Membership

Our members include people who write fact, and people who write fiction, writers of scripts and stories, writers for stage, print and broadcast, for papers and magazines.
 
Joining the IWU ensures you can avail of the union's professional services and advice, be kept informed of relevant developments, and meet other writers, as well as lending your support to the union's aims.
 
If you would like to join us, print off and complete the form below and return it to the IWU now.
 
Membership is open to part-time and full-time writers in any language who are Irish by birth, adoption, or association.

Full membership
Is open to writers who satisfy the Executive Committee that they have either:
 
· Published or self published at least one book - excluding vanity publishing - or
 
· Published a substantial body of work in newspapers or magazines -or
 
· Had a documentary or creative script broadcast on radio or tv - or
 
· Sold a screenplay - or
 
· Have produced other work which the Executive Committee may deem appropriate.


Associate Membership
Is open to writers who satisfy the Committee that they are actively engaged in writing but have not yet had their work published or broadcast.
 
Associate members enjoy the same privileges as full members, excepting the right to vote at meetings.
 
The IWU year runs from January 1st to December 31st.

The annual subscription is € 50 for full membership and €30 for associate membership.
